Revised 7th CPC Briefcase Allowance for 2024
The updated rates for briefcase allowances in 2024 have been released for government officials at different levels. At the highest Apex Level 17, such as the Secretary, Special Secretary, or equivalent positions, the allowance is now Rs. 10,000.
For those at the HAG, HAG+ Level 15 & 16, or AS & Equivalent levels, the eligible amount is set at Rs. 8,000.
Officials at the GP 10000 Level 14, such as Junior Secretaries and Equivalents, can claim up to Rs. 6,500 for their briefcase expenses.
At Levels 12 & 13, Directors and Equivalents with GP 7600 to 8700 are entitled to Rs. 5,000 as a briefcase allowance.
Deputy Secretaries, Senior Private Secretaries, and Equivalents with GP 4800 to 6600 qualify for a briefcase allowance, while Under Secretaries, Private Secretaries & Equivalents, or Section
Officers/Personal Secretaries & Equivalents at Levels 8 to 11 can receive Rs. 4,000.
Assistant Section Officers, Personal Assistants (GP. Rs.4,600/-) & Equivalents at GP 4200 to 4600 Levels 6 to 7 are allotted Rs. 3,500 for their briefcase expenses.
It is crucial to highlight that the mentioned allowance limits will increase by 25% whenever the Dearness Allowance (DA) goes up by 50%.
